Worldwide market opportunity

India records over 25 million births every year - the highest volume of any country in the world. That scale should imply a robust maternal support ecosystem. Instead, women survive delivery only to face the weeks immediately after birth largely on their own. Breastfeeding complications go unsupported. Postpartum depression, which affects roughly one in five new mothers globally, goes undiagnosed and unnamed. The postpartum gap is the most undercapitalized part of this market.

02Premise

The brief

Roo is a maternal wellness concierge for Indian mothers blending Ayurveda and modern science to hold you through pregnancy and new motherhood. We know this season is overwhelming. The questions at 2am, the conflicting advice, the endless logistics of finding the right people. Roo brings it all together: round-the-clock AI support, expert consults with lactation and pelvic floor specialists, jappa and nanny search, and curated wellness boxes.

03Product Excitement

The edge

Most maternal apps give you information.
Roo gives you support. That's a completely different product. Culturally native, not culturally adapted. Every other app in this space is a western product with an India sticker on it. Roo is built from the ground up for Indian mothers — Ayurveda alongside evidence-based medicine, food safety answers for dal and ghee not avocado toast, language that sounds like your bhabhi not a clinical leaflet.
04Timing

Why now

India has 25 million births a year and virtually no structured postpartum support system. Mothers are discharged from hospitals within 48 hours, left to piece together advice from WhatsApp groups, outdated family wisdom, and overloaded doctors. Three things have converged to make this the moment: AI is finally good enough. LLMs can now hold nuanced, culturally sensitive health conversations at scale something that wasn't possible even two years ago.
